My first Snarry video

I thought I was going to give up, when I started learning video editing... so glad I persisted! This might be the first of many.

I'm Under Your Spell (Snarry - Snape/Harry)

<lj-embed id="2" />

(Slash, but completely innocent... just the story of a boy's crush on his teacher.)

Story: It's Harry's first year at Hogwarts, and he compares his sad, lonely life with the Dursleys to his exciting new life. He immediately develops a crush on his Potions professor. Harry's fascination for Snape and for the Wizarding world is one and the same, as Snape represents all the wonderful new things in his life.

Your result for The Harry Potter Husband Test...

Mrs. Snape

Your perfect HP man is Severus Snape.

You like a guy of loyalty and intelligence and don't really mind if he comes across as a bit harsh. Or a bit bastardy. Or if he happens to terrify every child who crosses his path. The point is that under that rough exterior lies...well, a rough interior. But under that is a soft, squishy center and you don't mind at all that you're the only person in the world who gets to see it.

(Fanart by Grant Gould GrantGould.com Used with permission.)

Take The Harry Potter Husband Test at HelloQuizzy

Current interests

SO, I haven't posted in the longest time... it's time that I return - even if it is only to bless LJ with my magical presence, then glide away ethereally, leaving behind a hint of my perfume.

I just removed almost everybody from my friends list - as we were all strangers that never really connected, even though at some point I hoped we would. I've added several new communities with my current interests.

The pictures below represent the things that I've discovered very recently, and have come to love. Except for one, they are all related.

Alan Rickman - Fantastic actor, sexy as hell, all-around loveable. Cuddling with him looks like pure heaven, and he can dance a mean tango! (Watch this if you don't believe me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuBboY8rck8)
I'd love nothing more than to lay down in a soft bed, and have him read for me for hours (even the phone book would do!), preferably whispering it to my ear. His velvety, smooth, deep voice is better than sex! ;-)

Severus Snape - A sarcastic, cruel, hateful bastard of a professor, who goes out of his way to make his students miserable... Or at least, that is the first impression that he gives. (And second, and third...) But the more we get to know him through the Harry Potter books, the more we can't help but love him, even when we continues acting like a bastard. He is the character with more depth and more layers in the entire series... I can't help but daydream of playing with his hair, softly caress his unreadable mask of a face, hug him and tell him he is not alone... And I'd be there for him, as his best friend, even if he insulted me every ten seconds.

Harry Potter - and by that I mean: the books, the movies, the whole universe created by J.K.Rowling. I am not a fan of fantasy, so I never cared to give it a try. (Except for one time, when I watched the first 15 min of the 1st movie, got bored and gave up.) But eventually (maybe 3 months ago) I figured that HP was like rice: billions of chinese could not be wrong! So I popped the movie on the DVD player again, and watched the whole thing. There, I was hooked. In only 3 months I've watched all of the movies, read all seven books (finished the last one the day before yesterday!) and have read more fan fiction that I've read in a lifetime... Now my mission is to convert my husband, so I can have someone to talk about this stuff all day. :-)

Closet Land - I can't reccomend this enough! One of my favorite movies at the moment, absolutely fantastic - never mind that it only has 2 actors, and they never leave this one room. For some uncomprehensible reason, it has never been released on DVD (what a crime!!!), but we can watch the full feature on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6x2drQHkXWw I've seen it on some people's list of "The Ten Most Shocking Movies Ever", but I can't help but get hugely turned on by it... and it you see the comments on YouTube, most people do too - and they get ashamed by it, not understanding why a torture movie should be this erotic. Story: this woman is kidnapped from her own bed at night, tied up, blindfolded, and taken to this guy that works for some government agency. She writes children books, and he accuses her of having writen a political message disguised as an innocent story. She denies it, but he won't be convinced otherwise... and he is determined to make her confess.
As horrible as this is, as inhumane are the things that he does to her, I can't help but wish that Alan Rickman would kidnap me, tie me up, and sit with me for hours, talking with his oh-so-sexy voice, whispering empty threats and trying to mess with my head. *drools* (As for the torture part, that wouldn't be necessary, thank you very much!)

Snarry - (Snape/Harry) - This confuses me a little. Why should a straight girl melt like butter, daydreaming of being a gay boy getting it on with his professor, is not something that I understand - but I embrace it. I adore Snape, but thinking of him with women doesn't do anything for me. (I LOVE him and Lily, but that's love, which is different.) These two have such a complex love-hate relationship, I can't help but seeing them together. I used to search for pictures of cute kittens and puppies when I wanted to feel a warm, fuzzy feeling... now I get that from snarry!

Lucius Malfoy - There is not much to say, except that he is a gorgeous, sexy bastard. Ah, my weakness for villains! I won't say that I like him - I'd very much enjoy punching him in the face, getting rid of that arrogant smirk of his - but that doesn't mean he isn't serious eye candy, or that I wouldn't get much pleasure from playing with his hair, twisting my fingers around it... In fact, I wouldn't even mind if he insulted me some, going on about me being a filthy Muggle, then grabbing me by the hair and kissing me by force...

Fanart - I have been SO impressed lately with the quality of fanart out there. I can't believe how many seriously talented people there are (which I certainly envy - I can barely draw stick men!), and I can only thank them for sharing these precious images with the rest of us.

Sweeney Todd (the movie) - What can I say? Love the songs, love the actors, love the visuals, love the sick and twisted plot. Tons of blood, gore, angst, revenge, evil! And Alan Rickman plays yet another villain, which is awesome! People having their throats slit, then being grinded and turned into meat pies - something that evil has never been so hot before. (Did I really say that?)

I'm alive

Just a quick note, for whoever might care, to say that I'm still alive. I'm almost 4 months in my new advertising job, it is great and I love it! There's nothing much new to say, and what there is (my house hunting misadventures!), I don't feel like writing about it now.

About the premiere of "300" in London

“This is nuts”, exclaimed Butler. “There’s a lot of people out there and they are all screaming. It’s amazing but it’s very stressful as well, because there’s thousands of people and you only sign about ten or fifteen autographs, but people are shouting, “I’ve come all the way from America!!” – it makes you feel like a bag of shit!”

POOR BABY!!! When we see him in Tart events, Gerry goes out of his way to give attention to every single person. Sometimes he has to be some place else right away, and just can’t; and sometimes he fights his own agent for a few minutes with his fans. Only someone as sweet & kind & considerate as him would feel horrible by having thousands of people shouting his name, rather than feeling proud & with a huge ego.

This kind of reason is why I love Gerry so much, and will always be his Tart.

My only fear is that, from now on, it will be soooo much more difficult to get near him...

300

I saw "300" on the weekend. Obviously.

Gerry, as usual, outdid himself. There was nothing of him on King Leonidas... no hint of Gerryness. He's such a fantastic actor. It made me miss his sweetness.

Nothing could have prepared me for the heart-wrecking, saliva-forming amont of golden skinned muscle. Jesus Christ. I feel really sorry for Gerry for all the horrible training and sacrifice... but I can't say it isn't nice as hell to look at. ;-)

I am SO HAPPY that he's finally getting noticed in a larger scale. About time! I hope that movie makes many more millions - it will be impossible for the world to ignore Gerry then.

Strange fun

Anybody here plays with the stock market?

I always thought this would be hugely painful (like Math) and dull. But it’s actually as fun as gambling in Vegas – without the odds being with the house. :-) I learnt about stocks about a year ago, and since I don’t have much money to invest, I keep buying and selling the same $1000 over and over, just for the fun of it. Sometimes I lose some, then get it back.

Today I’m happy, since all the prices are so low (comparatively) – I know they’ll be back to where they were in just a few days. I bought a couple of things. :-)

Everybody seems to be very nice. I got to choose my cubicle, have my own computer (of course), printer (this is new to me!) and listen to this: a TV!!! With Dish Network and all! I find it hilarious that I can watch TV at work, but my boss reminded me why: we are in the TV business. She SHOULD know what’s going on.

My title: Junior Media Buyer. J We negotiate & buy TV airtime across the US + Canada. Which means, you’re watching Oprah or the News or Judge Judy, and there’s the commercial break… we are the ones buying 30 or 60 seconds to air our ad.

- My Accutane treatment is completed. (Thank God!!!) It bothered me terribly on the last month. My lips are not only dry; they constantly bleed, peel in huge chunks, even got infected and make me look like I have some infectious disease. It’s embarrassing to show in public like that! (How did I get a job looking like that is beyond me.) My skin all over is very dry, and my arms keep getting red & rough (like an allergy). Any little scratch (let’s say, on my forehead) makes it bleed. Nose bleeds & always hurting. Is it any wonder that I’m so happy that it’s over? (Or rather, it’ll be over soon. It will take a few weeks to get back to normal.)

- I had my 3-hour Fashion Consultancy session. It was SO WORTH IT. The girl and I went to 4 stores – where she had gone the day before to choose clothes for me & reserve them, no extra charge. So basically I tried the clothes on, she explained why she had chosen those for me (body type, skin color, fashion reasons, etc), and I made a ton of questions. I didn’t buy a single thing, since I had zero budget for clothes (not having worked for months!) but definitely liked the clothes and agreed with her advice. She is very nice too, and obviously loves what she does.

- I got my job a few days after the fashion consultancy, so it was time to run to the mall and do a much needed wardrobe update (a few pieces at least). J It was so much fun being able to shop for clothes after so long! And with the new knowledge gained, I had a much better idea of what I was looking for & what would look good on me, which made the process much easier, efficient and fun. I bought 1 pair of trousers, and several blouses/tops.

- I FINALLY got an Art Director to collaborate with!!! (Halleluiah!) My portfolio will finally start to exist (on paper, instead of my head). The guy’s also great to brainstorm new ads together, and we had good laughs coming up with silly stuff.

- Did I mention where I found my job? (It’s so unthinkable, I ignored it for so long.)

Craigslist.

Who would have thought?

Oh, and there’s where I found my collaborator.

I’ll never look down at Craigslist again.

- I went to Chopsticks Duel Piano Bar (or something like that). Tons of fun – except at 11pm or so, when they played 6-7 songs (in a row) that I’ve never heard before. Too expensive, though! Getting in is just $7, but then there’s food, drinks, tips for the players, parking… jeez… $100 easy.

If you are sitting next to someone who irritates you on a plane or train....

1. Quietly and calmly open up your laptop case.
2. Remove your laptop.
3. Turn it on.
4. Make sure the guy who won't leave you alone can see the screen.
5. Open your web browser.
6. Close your eyes and tilt your head up to the sky.
7. Then hit this link: http://www.thecleverest.com/countdown.swf

(LOL!!!)

My first TV & Radio spots

Recently I joined a certain Advertising club here in Seattle, and joined a certain committee. We are working on a campaign for a certain non-profit. Saturday we got together and discussed details of the TV and radio spots. (FUN!!!) It's hard for me to believe it: they are gonna air, on TELEVISION, a commercial that I helped making. How cool is that? :-)

3 Surreal Facts

- One of the writers from my group (Sam) had decided to leave. :-(

- Guns N' Roses will play on Gigantinho, in Porto Alegre. (What the hell??? Is this real? This kind of stuff didn't happen when I lived there!)

- I missed the oportunity to meet David Lynch. [pulls own hair off, in anger]. I was dying to watch Inland Empire, Lynch's new 3-hour movie. Everyone's saying that's crazier/better than Mulholland Drive, so I was thrilled. There was only 1 movie theater nearby showing it, and I thought it wouldn't hurt to delay it only a few days. Today I was going to watch it, but it wasn't showing anymore. Then I read a message board, to find out that he movie only played for 1 week (what the hell???) and David Lynch himself was there on the 1st night. According to a report, some guy played "moody music" while Lynch read a poem (it sounds like Clube Silencio to me!) and introduced the film. FUUUUUUUCKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How could I not know that?????? :-( :-( :-(

I Heart Gerry

Gerry Butler is such a sweetheart. I already knew that, but he keeps confirming it at every chance. I love that man. :-)

I haven't stopped by GB.net in a while. Today I did. I listened to the New Year's message that he left for his tarts - just for us from the website!!! He said that, with "300" being released, he expects to get better known, and also expects to get more fans. But he told us not to worry; we were there first, and we won't lose "our position"; he will never forget about us. So in other words, we are his girls (and he is ours) much more than the new fans to come. He also thanked us for all the love, for posting e-mails on the board, sending him letters, attending events - that it means so much for him.

How not to love such sweet, adorable, sensitive creature??? [little red hearts coming out of my head, like a cartoon] The man manages to be even more beautiful inside than outside, and that's saying a lot, since he's gorgeous!

I also listened to the phone interview that he just had with the webmistresses of 5 major Gerry websites. His adorableness and charm is there, too. :-)

Procrastrinating books

I just finished reading (and writing a synopsis of) 2 books about Procrastrination. One was full of shit; the other was extremely helpful. I have actually done things differently on the past 2 weeks: seen less TV, playing less dominoes, organized tons of data on my computer, made to-do lists, and just in general, I have been spending much more of my time doing useful things rather than panicking and feeling immobilized. Now I have to keep it on and get better & better!

Fashion Consultant

This is weird, but today I met with a Fashion Consultant at Starbucks. I'll be hiring her services soon. I never developed much of a sense of fashion & style, I never know what looks good on me and what doesn't. It's time to change that. She's very professional, obviously loves doing it, and doesn't charge nearly as much as most. We'll be going to a couple of department stores, and she'll teach me about fabrics, colors, cuts, styles... what works best for me. I already told her I will not buy a thing (I'm not working, so I'm poor!) and that's fine with her. Yay, I'm excited!!!

Oh, and I've been getting a lot of replies from Craigslist, trying to find Art Directors. Most, if not all, will flake out, but at least they're replying!

Yesterday I wrote to F. asking for suggestions of good fiction novels.
Bodies, The Exhibit

Oh, boy. I wanted to go, then I didn't, then I wanted, then I changed my mind. Repeat.

My baby and a coworker were going this Sunday. I decided not to go, afraid that it was going to be gross and traumatizing. My baby convinced me, reminding me that it's a one-in-a-lifetime oportunity, and very educative... so I went, telling myself (and him) that I reserved the right to leave the exhibit if it were too much.

I'm so glad I went!!!!! OMG!

For who's unfamiliar, that's an exhibit using real human bodies. Chinese guys, whose bodies were unclaimed. Cut in very creative ways, positioned in equally crazy ways, then preserved, labeled, and displayed for all to see.

In the beginning I was nauseous, afraid of throwing up. Not because it was gross - it really wasn't. But it was disturbing to see the human body as a collection of bones, muscle and cartilage. It was like, "That's it? That's all I have underneath my skin? I'm just a pile of this stuff?" As things were getting more complex, that bad feeling passed.

My 2 favorite displays: the nerves, all connected through the spine, and reaching all the different parts of the body. (They used to sound purely abstract!). The veins & arteries of different body parts. (They took, for instance, a heart; injected red polymer on the veins, blue polymer on the arteries; when the polymer hardened, they chemically dissolved all organic muscle/tissue, so all left was the polymer in the exact shape of the veins/arteries, even tiny tiny ones.)

FANTASTIC stuff.

Resumes for Chemistry, Flaky Art Directors

Since I'm taking for-e-ver to get a job in Advertising, and since we'll be needing a 2nd income when we buy a house (which we're planning on doing within a year), I decided to be flexible... Today I send resumes for Chemistry jobs. :-(

Crazy thing is, I already got an interview!!! (Next Monday.)

It sucks. Not so much because I dread lab jobs (well, just a little), but because I don't want it to be a long-term thing. To be in Advertising I did a lot of hard work, drove 5h+ per day, earned laughable salaries, took night classes, had years of headaches trying to get the guts... it would be really, really sad if all of that were in vain.

On a slightly different subject, I've been trying to find Art Directors and/or Graphic designers to collaborate with on making a portfolio. It's been incredibly frustrating. Several, many people respond to my posts, a few say "YESSSS, I love your ideas, let's partner!", but not a soul has moved a finger so far. BUNCH OF FLAKES!!!!! (To be fair: one guy from India executed 5 of my ideas, but they were pittifully amateurish and just plain sad. I hope he didn't spent too much time on those.)

Blood test results

Today I got the results of my blood tests. My thyroid is all messed up - I have to see an endocrinologyst ASAP. (My own fault; I haven't seen one since Dr. Carvajal!). My cholesterol and triglicerydes are 3x less than last month (and the month before), which makes NO SENSE (even if I'm taking Lipitor). It's probably wrong. My lymphs (white blood cells) are VERY LOW (0.9, when the normal is 1.0 - 4.0). Which means, I don't have much of an immune system right now. I'm gonna delay my (possible) root canal - I don't want an infection!

I went to the School of Visual Concepts, hoping to find Art Directors/Graphic Designers somehow. The place was empty. I left a flyer on the mural.

I own a gun!

I went with my baby to a gun show in Puyallup. HE BOUGHT ME A GUN!!!!!! I wasn't planning on having a gun (had actually made up my mind NOT to have one), but this one was SO PRETTY that I couldn't resist. :-) It's a Colt Frontier Scout 0.22 LR. It's from the 1960's and cost $525. It caught my eye in one of the first booths that we watched, and nowhere on the immense show I found a prettier revolver. I was told that its price will raise (not lower) as it gets older.

Now my parents will freak out! Their beloved daughter owning a gun. Hehehe!

Obviously, if I ever need a gun for self-defense, I wouldn't dream of using this cutie. One little bullet at a time would be pathetic (and dangerous!) - would probably piss off my attacker instead of harming him! But, since I HIGHLY doubt that I'll ever have a stalker/serial killer/crazy psycho after me, I'm not worrying about that. :-)

New haircut!

I went to Suede (hairstyling place), which I found great reviews of online. My new hairstylist is Jenna. Never someone made me so many questions regarding my hair: how often do I wash it, how do I style it, how often do I get it cut, how often do I dye it, how many minutes I'm willing to spend to style it every time, what kind of change I was expecting... so on and so on. I asked her for a specific haircut that included trimming it with a razor blade; she said it wasn't a good idea (it would frizz my hair a lot), and made another suggestion. I let her do it, and it became beautiful!!! Straight, silky, modern, in layers (which I don't use since... since... hell, I don't remember). Awesome! She even showed me 2 different ways to style it after each wash. Now I'll HAVE to use the blow dryer every time, but if my hair stays that beautiful, it's worth it!

It snowed a little, just tiny little flakes falling on my hair.

Teatro Zinzanni, Snow

Yesterday we went to my husband's company dinner at Teatro Zinzanni. (It took me 2 hours to get ready, messing around with makeup and the hair drier. I put on a beautiful black dress, which tags I was able to replace afterwards, and will be returned. Bad, bad me!) It's a mix of fancy restaurant and circus, very interesting! A 5-meal course with artists clowning around among the tables and doing presentations, round room with red walls and a circus tent, meals being served with tons of fuss, color, noise. Some guy came to our table to announce the "Table's Safety Rules", and his one & only comment was how my decote (dress cut?) was "too distracting and therefore unsafe", and he covered it with the napkin. LOL! He exchanged a joke with my husband about that. The food itself looked beautiful, but I wasn't too impressed by the taste - it was just regular. I disliked the fact that I couldn't finish a single dish - they'd serve us, and 2 minutes later come and take the plate, or turn off the lights! :-P There were some impressive acrobatic and "my body is made of rubber" numbers - my favorite was a couple romancing around in a trapeze!

Oh, and yesterday there was lots of snow. Beaaaaaautiful! Today the sun shone brightly all day long, and the sidewalks & trees & car tops were white. :-)

On a less joyful note, today I started my treatment with Lipitor (10mg, 1 pill a day), to lower my cholesterol. Blah!

Unexpected things that people told me today

"What the fuck???" and "What the hell?"
That came from my husband's ear doctor. He couldn't figure out what's going on in my husband's ear, because of strange & unique symptoms. The funny thing is that the doctor was all handsome and charming, Italian (said 'ciao' and all), dressed in a beautiful suit and tie... and out of the blue, among perfectly articulate sentences, he lets go a "WTF?" - LOL.

"You're weird."
That came from my interviewer (no less!) when he asked me how I am liking Seattle, and I said that I enjoy the lack of sunlight. LOL! Hopefully I still caused a good impression - despite the fact that he also mentioned the dream interpretation thing in my hobbies list (in a surprised tone) and that I couldn't recall my last supervisor's last name. "Jim, Jim... damn!"

So I had my interview in the nice Ad Agency. The guy was very nice - open to questions, offered tips, refered names... I mentioned my weird shortage of interviews, asked what may be wrong in my resume, and he said that Advertising in Seattle isn't very big, indeed there aren't many openings. That kind of brings me down, makes my hope even smaller... but at least I know that it's not my fault.

I stopped by the Pike Place Market before returning home; got some baby potatoes, 1 tomato and 1 cauliflower. I also remember that Axl had been there, and wondered in which column close to the infamous fish seller he bumped his head on. I also stopped by the Russian bakery, Piroshky (I had a craving for a while!) and got 1Coffee Roll and another chocolatey one. (They were out of Marzipan rolls!) And since I passed right in front, I quickly stopped by the crepes place to get an espresso - which for some reason wasn't that special this time.

In the morning I had woken up after a really beautiful dream with Francisco - which basically said that I'm truly welcome in his world. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but tonight I finally replied to his e-mail. I thought I'd write a book, but somehow I was content after 2 1/2 pages. :-)

Good news about Xandi

My mom, probably while browsing through her address notebook to wish friends & family a happy holiday (I'm guessing), decided to call my ex-boyfriend, Alexandre, to see how he was doing. That was out of the blue, because we don't hear from him in 6 years! I guess my mom is just like me (or rather, I'm just like her): we don't forget about people that we once cared about, just because they're no longer in our lives. In fact, we never stop caring.

This guy and I dated for almost 2 years - it took me that long to find out that he was a drug addict. (Long story... just assume that I'm really dumb for certain things.) When I last saw him, he was no good... he had gotten some sort of attack and something went kaput in his brain - he was no longer "normal", coherent. He was doing horrible things to himself, refused help, and didn't have any plans. Since then, I've been wondering if he was still alive, how low had he gotten, what had happened to him... Despite still being resented, I always wished him well.

Then my mom called and talked with his father and his stepmother. They were very happy to hear from her. Alexandre straightened out!!! He's no longer on drugs!!! [let the fireworks explode!] He met a girl that managed to set him right, and they got married a month ago. He never let his hair grow again, he's fat (LOL - he didn't used to eat much, he was super skinny), he's WORKING (actually working!) as an Electrical Technician (the profession he abandoned right after meeting me). According to them, he took responsibility and finally turned into a man - doesn't give them any problems, is calm, and both he and his wife are very happy. His stepmother, who in the past didn't conceal her hate for him, now loves him!!!

I can't tell how happy I am to hear this. This is one of the best news I could have received to start the year. :-)
